Düsseldorf District Court has decided in favour of three licensors of the patent pool HEVC Advance – Dolby Laboratories, GE Video Compression and Koninklijke Philips N.V. – in comprehensive proceedings about the video coding standard HEVC/H.265.

According to the judgment, the defendant (MAS Elektronik AG) infringed the asserted patents by its HEVC/H.265 compliant products and the filed nullity actions had no obvious chances of success. The court further ruled that the licence terms which HEVC Advance had offered to the defendant were FRAND and hence granted the applications for injunction.

The licensors of HEVC Advance were represented by Dr. Volkmar Henke and Dr. Tilman Müller (both attorneys-at-law) as well as Dr.-Ing. Christoph Fehn and Stefan Wiethoff (both patent attorneys).
