Christoph Fehn is a member of our patent litigation team. He represents national and international clients before the patent infringement courts in Germany and before the Unified Patent Court (UPC), the Federal Patent Court and the European Patent Office (EPO) including its Boards of Appeal.

Christoph Fehn also has particular experience in the evaluation of standard-essential patents for patent pools, especially in the field of video coding (H.265/HEVC, H.266/VVC, VP9 and AV1) and state-of-the-art transmission/communication technologies (DVB-S2X, DVB-T2, 4G, 5G, Wifi-6).

These fields of technology and standards are also a focus of his patent litigation practice. Here, Christoph Fehn benefits in particular from the many years of experience he has gained through his research and doctoral work at the Fraunhofer Institute for Telecommunications, Heinrich Hertz Institute, as well as his involvement in the standardization of video coding methods within the framework of MPEG (Motion Picture Experts Group).

Christoph Fehn is the author of numerous scientific publications in the field of image processing and video coding and co-author of the English/Japanese EPC textbook "The European Patent Application".

According to Handelsblatt/Best Lawyers, Christoph Fehn is one of Germany's best lawyers 2024 in the field of Intellectual Property Law.

He speaks German, English and - thanks to his wife - Greek (basic knowledge).
