In addition to his in-company experience with business structures, IP strategies, patent valuation and the law governing employee inventions, Stephan Nüsse has many years of experience in prosecuting and enforcing intellectual property such as patents, registered designs and trademarks. He advises on the assertion and, where necessary, the cross-border enforcement of intellectual property, and in infringement and revocation disputes and further received the diploma in “Patent Litigation in Europe” at the University of Strassbourg for admittance at the UPC.

According to Handelsblatt/Best Lawyers, Stephan Nüsse ranks as one of Germany’s best lawyers in 2024 in the field of Intellectual Property Law. He was also honoured by WirtschaftsWoche as „TOP Attorney 2024“.

Studied Physics at RWTH Aachen University, obtaining his doctorate in the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and at the Fraunhofer Institute for Laser Technology at RWTH Aachen University, specializing in solid-state sciences, semiconductor technology, optoelectronics, nanotechnology and lasers; doctorate and postdoctoral research in the field of optoelectronics, 1998.

Legal education since 1998 in the Legal Intellectual Property Department of a multinational electronics corporation, responsible for prosecution and managing patents in the fields of power generation, nuclear engineering and nuclear fuel. Continued education and graduation in an international law firm and at Frankfurt District Court, at the German Patent and Trademark Office and the German Federal Patent Court in Munich. European Patent Attorney since 2003 and Patent Attorney (Germany) since 2004. Until 2008 partner in an IP-law firm located in Germany and Switzerland, providing international consulting services in all fields of intellectual property; at Eisenführ Speiser (Berlin) since 2009. Receipt of Diploma for “Patent Litigation in Europe” at the University of Strassbourg in academic course of 2022/2023.
