In his role as patent attorney, Ingo Schöling has long-standing experience in drafting German and European patent applications, and in the strategic development of inventions. German and European opposition proceedings are another special focus of his work.

Ingo Schöling has pertinent experience in Indian patent litigation, especially nullity and infringement proceedings, many of which he has handled before the Intellectual Property Appellate Board (IPAB) in Chennai (superseded in April 2021 by the Madras High Court), the Delhi High Court and the Madras High Court. The IPAB also permitted him to present a case in court.

In addition to the above, Ingo Schöling has international experience before the London High Court, the Tokyo High Court and the patent offices in Beijing and Warsaw. He has in-depth knowledge of Australian and New Zealand patent law and has gained insight into the complexities of opposition proceedings in the two countries.

In cases conducted in foreign countries, especially, Ingo Schöling is well versed in the selection and guidance of technical experts.

According to Handelsblatt/Best Lawyers, Ingo Schöling ranks as one of Germany’s best lawyers in 2024 in the field of Intellectual Property Law.

Ingo Schöling is a lecturer in intellectual property law at the University of Bremen, focusing on opposition proceedings.

CV

Studied Electrical Engineering at the University of Bremen, specializing in automation engineering; research assistant at the Institute for Glass and Ceramics Technology at the Ilmenau University of Technology; obtained his doctorate at the Institute for Electrical Drive Systems, Power Electronics and Components at the University of Bremen, with special reference to control systems for a nonlinear, elastically coupled two-mass system.

Legal training at Eisenführ Speiser since 2002, with parallel studies at the Distance-Learning University of Hagen. Final training and State Examination at the German Patent and Trademark Office and the German Patent Court in Munich. Patent Attorney (Germany) since 2005, European Patent Attorney since 2007.
