Global Innovation Index 2021 published

The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) has published the Global Innovation Index 2021. This year’s edition focuses on the topic “Tracking Innovation through the COVID-19 Crisis”.

On the basis of 81 indicators, including expenditure on research and development and the number of international patent and trademark applications, the index ranks the innovation capacity of 132 countries. The leaders are Switzerland, Sweden, the USA, the United Kingdom and the Republic of Korea. Germany ranks tenth.
