Bremen, 03.04.2013 Günther Eisenführ, patent attorney and founder of Eisenführ Speiser, celebrated his 80th birthday on 11 April 2013.
Born in Berlin, Günther Eisenführ graduates in mechanical engineering from the Technical University of Darmstadt, before working for three years as an engineer in research and development at Phoenix-Gummiwerke in Hamburg. From 1960 onwards, he obtained his legal training at the patent attorney firm of Dr. Karl Boehmert, at the German Patent and Trademark Office and at the German Patent Court.
In 1966, Günther Eisenführ founded his own firm in Bremen. He was joined a year later by Dieter K. Speiser as partner. The years that followed were marked by continuous growth and extraordinary success.
Günther Eisenführ is still active as a patent attorney, working on special cases only, namely in trademark and patent litigation and in related fields of competition law, and was involved for many years as a member of the Governing Board of the Patent Attorneys Association, of the German Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (GRUR) and its Northern Regional Group, and of the German Group within the AIPPI (International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property). He was also an honorary judge in patent attorney matters at Munich District Court I and the Munich Upper District Court.
Striving for maximum possible expertise in all areas of specialisation by engaging in continuous further training is firmly anchored in the philosophy of Eisenführ Speiser – as a lecturer at the Bremen University of Applied Sciences, the University of Bremen and the DeutscheAnwaltAkademie in Berlin, Günther Eisenführ has played an active role in passing on his extensive knowledge to subsequent generations. An empassioned trademark attorney, he is a co-author of the Eisenführ · Schennen paperback commentary on the Community Trademark Regulation (Heymann, 4th edition forthcoming) and has written numerous journal articles and commemorative papers, mainly on aspects of German and European trademark law and on German Supreme Court rulings on patent matters.
To this day, Günther Eisenführ’s professional impact is indelibly characterised not only by his striving for perfection in expertise, but also by intensive dedication and commitment as a service provider. This is epitomised by his motto – ‘We have to be at the service of clients whenever they need us’.
Günther Eisenführ served the city of Bremen as President of the Eiswette (an age-old Bremen tradition) from 1993 to 1996. He is still involved in that institution, particularly since it is important to him to uphold Bremen’s reputation and traditions among people and decision-makers beyond the city limits.
