The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) has published the Global Innovation Index 2020. This year’s edition focuses on the topic “Who Will Finance Innovation”.
On the basis of 80 indicators, including expenditure on research and development and the number of international patent and trademark applications, the index ranks the innovation capacity of 131 countries. The leaders are Switzerland, Sweden, the USA, the United Kingdom and the Netherlands. Germany ranks ninth.
