Uwe Stilkenböhmer is the primary contact for clients in the Chemistry/Life Sciences sector. A particular focus of his work involves complex opposition proceedings before the European Patent Office and the German Patent and Trademark Office, as well as the preparation of expert opinions, particularly freedom-to-operate and infringement analyses, including strategic consultancy on patent circumvention.
Uwe Stilkenböhmer is regularly recommended and commended in the trade press, e.g. by Handelsblatt/Best Lawyers, The Legal 500 or Managing Intellectual Property. He is also rated “Excellent” in the legal field Patent prosecution in the Leaders League Ranking 2024.
Uwe Stilkenböhmer speaks German and English.
Studied at the University of Hanover, including a stay at Imperial College, London; parallel commercial training. Obtained his doctorate from the University of Hanover in 1994; research assistantships in 1993 at Technion, Israel Institute of Technology in Haifa and at Dräger, Lübeck; specialized in: organic chemistry, physical chemistry.
Legal training in a Hanover firm of patent attorneys specialized in chemistry, including a period of training at the Braunschweig District Court and at a US firm of patent attorneys; took the “Law for Patent Attorneys” course at the Distance-Learning University of Hagen; further training at the German Patent and Trademark Office and at the German Patent Court.
Patent Attorney (Germany) since 1997, European Patent Attorney since 1998, at Eisenführ Speiser (Bremen) since 2000.
From 1999 to 2003, Uwe Stilkenböhmer was a lecturer in Patent Law in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Hanover. Since 2006, in his capacity as CEIPI tutor, he has been preparing IP professionals for the European Qualifying Examination.
